Regional cooperation is needed to withstand the challenges by the wholesale voice carriers of SAARC countries in the face of falling volumes and flatter tariff rate. This was stated by Zahir Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Mir Telecom Limited while speaking in a panel discussion on Wholesale Voice Challenges – Future Growth Strategies for SAARC during the wholesale carriers meet titled “Partner to Outperform” organized by Tata Communications Limited on 21^st Sep 2001 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Mr. Zahir urged the wholesale carriers of the region to pull their resources to create better bargaining claim as the region is home to one third of the world’s population and one of the largest voice markets of the world. The Partner to Outperform meet was held for the first time by Tata Communications Limited for SAARC region from 21^st to 23^rd Sep 2011 at the Taj Samudra Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
